Chithambara College celebrates 118th Anniversary, Cultural hall & Laboratories ceremonially opened

118th Anniversary including Founders day and Annual prize giving ceremony of Valvettithurai Chithambara College were held today on 15th of November 2014.
The event was headed by Mr.K.Rajathurai, (Principal, Chithambara College), where Mr.Sivapatham Nanthakumar (Director of education, Vadamaradchi Zone) has participated as Chief guest and Mr.Jamuna Nanthakumar (Principal, Point Pedro Methodist Girl High School), Mr.Sripathy (President, PPA, Valvettithurai) and Mr.X.Kulanayakam (Former President, PPA, Valvettithurai) have participated as special guests.
Having made Pooja in nearby Hindu temple (Sundra Peruman Sivan temple), the guests were welcome with the band play at about 1415 hours.
Having lighted the auspicious traditional lamp, the renovated school’s Cultural hall was declared open by the Chief guest Mr.Nandakumar.
The renovated Laboratories of Physics, Chemistry and Botany were declared open by Mr.Nanthakumar, Mrs.Jamuna Nanthakumar and Mr.Sripathy respectively.
Both Laboratory and Cultural hall was renovated by CWN (Chithambara Well wishers network) since 2012.
The ceremony which was filled with various dramatic and cultural events of the students, that had shown scintillating cultural display to the invitees.
Following the various events performed by the students, Mr.Kulanayagam had given the speech about the founder of the College.
The event was organized by Chithambara College Past Pupil Association, Valvettithurai branch.
Students, Ex Students, Number of Parents and well wishers had participated at the event, which continued till 1900 hours.
Chithambara College was found on November 11th in 1896, by honorable Mr.K.Chithambarapillai, with the name of ‘Chithambara Vithyalayam’.
Chithambara College is located at about 1 kilometer, west of Valvettithurai junction, along the Point Pedro – KKS road.
