Chariot festival of Valvettithurai Nediyakadu Pillayar temple held today

The chariot ("Ther" in Tamil) festival of Valvettithurai Nediyakadu Pillaiyar Temple was held today, 28th Sep 15, at about 1200 hours. Hundred of devotees had participated at the event.
The chief Deity, Lord Ganapathi, along with Lord Muruga and others, were taken from the temple today morning at about 1100 hours to the gaily decorated chariots, including those two newly made conventional chaariots, so as to commence the chariot festival.
The last day festival of Holy bath is scheduled to take place tomorrow at Valvettiturai Orani holy beach.
Nediyakadu Pillaiyar Temple, which is the largest Vinayaga Temple in VVT area, is said to be one of the temple in Valvettithurai that does practice rites and observances according to Saiva agama traditions.
Nediyakadu Pillaiyar Temple is located at about 800 meter east of VVT junction, along the Point Pedro - KKS road.
