Fishing boat sunk after developing a crack in Palk Strait, fisherman rescued

A fishing boat reported to have fishing off Valvettithurai seas sunk after developing a crack in the hull; however the fisherman was rescued by fellow fishermen who were fishing nearby. The incident took place on 27th Jan 2016 early morning, at about 3 nautical miles north of Athikovil in the Palk Strait.
An out board engine and fishing gears too has been recovered from the sunken fishing boat.
