Valvettithurai Indra vizha marks 50 years, attract mass crowd

The great festival of “Inthira-Vasantha Vizha” considered as the single largest unique festival in Jaffna Peninsula, had drawn thousands of people yesterday at Valvettithurai – a tiny notable coastal town in Srilanka.
The celebration, that used to be on the last day annual festival of Valvettithurai Sri Muthumari Amman temple, had commenced just after the sunset, in the stretch of two and half kilometres on the Point Pedro – KKS main road.
The festival which was put on by entire people of Valvettithurai including those diaspora, with many separate events at various places from Orani to Orikadu Soda factory, along the Point Pedro – KKS road.
The road had temporarily been closed since yesterday evening due to the presence of decorations and various programs along the road.
Number of Smoke filled Balloons in various sizes including two numbers of 60 foot Balloons were made to fly and at Nediyakadu, where Indra vizha started 50 years ago.
