Island's largest fishing horbour, coasting 700 million rupees is to be constructed in Point Pedro, Jaffna, with an expectation to provide major boost marine fishing in northern Srilanka. The mega project is undertaken by Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development, funded by Asian development bank.
The fishing harbour is expected to accommodate more than five hundred large size fishing boats in the inner basin which is to have average depth of 5 meters.
Point Pedro is the second largest town in Jaffna peninsula, located in the northern tip of the Island, about 30 km North east of Jaffna town
