Kite festival in Jaffna, VVT kites made events successful

The first Kite festival, organized by Secretariat office of Northern Province, has taken place, today in Jaffna at Thuraiyappa stadium, followed by a work shop held in Jaffna today morning. The events commenced at about 1600 hours, where Northern Province governor Mr.G.A.Sandrasri participated as Chief Guest.
The event, which is first time in Jaffna, had brought about 60 kites to fly in the Jaffna sky today, where 55 kites are from Valvettithurai – a place uttered by many in this Island nation for many reasons.
The kites participated from VVT had been either made or arranged by ‘Valvai Kuzhavikal Kalamanram’, a non profit Valvettithurai based organization, leading for many cultural events in Valvettithurai.
It is notable that a kite competition is held annually at Valvettithurai during ‘Thai pongal’ day, in the month of January.
