The annual festival of Mullaitivu Vattapalai Kannaikai Amman Temple has commenced yesterday evening. A large number of devotees from all over the places, mainly from north are taking part in the festival that would continue till today morning.
Mullaitivu Vattapalai Kannaikai Amman Temple is located near the Nandhikadal lagoon, where the last phase of the battle had taken place at the end of ethnic war in 2009. Nandhikadal and its surrounding areas were considered as strong holds of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
