Mullivaikal Kanchi event commences at Valvettithurai

'Mullivaikal Kanchi' (Rice porridge) distribution event has commenced today at Valvettithurai in remembrance of Mullivaikkal genocide victims, during end of civil war between Srilankan armed forces and LTTE.
The event organised by 'Jaffna university students union' commenced, at Alay, which is just adjacent to the House of LTTE leader Mr.V.Prabhakaran.
It was said that, during the last phase of war in Vanni.People were at Mullivaikkal had to survive only on what was locally called “kanchi” - rice cooked, with no any flavors in coconut milk.
The event is said to continue till 15th of may, ending at Vanni.
