Two weeks after the onset of the northeast monsoon, Jaffna Peninsula got considerably heavy rainfall in last 2 days.
Strong wind and considerably rough seas are experienced in the Palk Strait and rainwater is observed in many places of the Peninsula and the normalcy of life is considerably affected due to the raining.
The Jaffna Peninsula is most fertile, being irrigated from numerous wells, which are being filled during North East Monsoon from late October till beginning of January.
According to the Meteorological Department of Srilanka Showers is expected at several places in the Northern, North Central, Eastern ans Uva provinces.
The monsoon in Asia which affects the Indian Subcontinent, South China, Korea and Japan, in turn affect the Bay of Bengal, South China Sea, Taiwan Strait and East China sea from late October till end of March.
