Valvettithurai born SLAS officer Mr V. Velummylum, former Secretary of Provincial Administration of North Eastern Provincial Government and former Divisional Secretary of Trincomalee and Point Pedro divisional secretariat passed away in Jaffna today early morning at the age of 83 after suffering from short illness.
Mr V. Velummylum has held his Divisional Secretary position till 90 and has been a Volunteer to offer his service to a number of government and NGO servants.
Throughout his lengthy high ranking government service carrier, he was largely known as having served for the public to his best. Witnessing his extraordinary service, Public of Valvettithurai inherently called the lane where he resided as “AGA Lane’.
Mr V. Velummylum leaves behind his four children.
Last rites of SLAS officer is scheduled to be performed on Wednesday at his residence, AGA Lane, Valvettithurai and following which funeral will be held at Orani Hindu cemetery at about 4 P.M
