Valvai Summer annual festival is held tomorrow in London

The Summer festival ('Valvai Kodai Vizha' in Tamil) of Valvettithurai based Srilankan Tamil will be held in London tomorrow.
This remarkable sports festival among Tamils in London, is organised and hosted by the "Valvettithurai Welfare Association", since 2006.
The events are scheduled to be headed by Mr.Kumar Sathiyaseelan, the President of the "Valvettithurai Welfare Association", where Football
is considered to be the leading sport event in this annual festival, by attracting number of teams from various European countries including teams from Denmark, Norway, Germany, and France etc.
Besides football, the festival events include many other sport events, including traditional Tamil games such as Tug of war, Fighting with Pillows, Climbing on Grease pole, Kabaadi etc. "Valvettithurai Welfare Association" has made an arrangements to conduct number of games for children in order to keep them active in the festival.
It is learnt that the winners of Champion and runners up in Adults Football will be awarded by £2000 and £1000 respectively, in addition to traditional cups and shields.
This successful annual festival used to draw around 4000-5000 attendants participating and spectating each year due to the free entrance, free parking, traditional food and generally a relaxing yet competitive atmosphere.
The event will be catered by "Valvai Unavagam" headed by Chief Cook Mr K. Ananthasigamany (Vellaikutty) with the help many VVTrs including females. An arrangements are under way to serve participants with traditional meals such as "Kool", famous "Kottu roti", "Kozhi pukkai", "Vadai" etc.
