Valvettithurai great festival – Indra vizha ends, drew mass crowd

The great festival of “Inthira-Vasantha Vizha” considered as the single largest unique festival in Jaffna Peninsula, had drawn thousands of people yesterday at Valvettithurai – a tiny notable coastal town in Srilanka.
The celebration, that used to be on the last day annual festival of Valvettithurai Sri Muthumari Amman temple, had commenced just after the sunset, in the stretch of two kilometers on the Point Pedro – KKS main road.
The festival which was put on by entire people of Valvettithurai including those diaspora, with many separate events at various places from Orani to Orikadu, along the Point Pedro – KKS road.
The road had temporarily been closed since yesterday evening due to the presence of decorations and various programs along the roadt.
Events included various music groups, including couple of artist from Tamil Nadu, dances, Bajanai and several other cultural related events, which lasted till today early morning.
Number of smoke filled Balloons of various heights – including a 40 feet Balloon were too made fly and at various locations of Valevttithurai
Police personnel were on duty to control the traffic.
