One of the tanks which are being built to meet the needs of fresh water to Vadamaradchi is being built near Chelvachannathi on the other side of the river. It appears they expect fresh water from vadamaradchi east for this. All the main roads and inner lanes are being dug and pipe line are laid under this scheme in Valvettiturai at present
The tank under construction can be seen in the photo below. Presently the people of Jaffna peninsula depend on rain water which is collected from wells dug on the ground.
