The opening ceremony of the new wedding hall of Valvai Sri Muthumaariyamman ‘Kalyaana Mandapam’ held yesterday, 18th October 2013. President of ‘Valvai Sri Muthumaariyamman Committee’ (Tharmakarthaa sapai in Tamil), Mr. T. Tharmakulasingam and committee members graced the occasion as the special guests and declared open the wedding hall, which has been constructed by about 10 months.
The event took place during an auspicious time from 06:02 till 07:32. After cutting the ribbon by Mr. Tharmakulasingam, and a couple of traditional hinduism oriented events by priests of ‘Valvai Sri muthumaariyamman temple’ and the ‘Valvai Vaitheeswarar Sivan temple’, the new building was ceremonially declared open.
Thereafter Mr. Sivasekaram was greeted for designing and constructing the wedding hall in time.
On completion of all traditional ceremonies including ‘Thaval’ and ‘Nathaswaram’, lighting the auspicious lamp, number of events has been performed by many children and youngsters.
The total cost of the building is yet to be declared by the committee, however it is learnt that the committee requires more funds in order to have other necessary facilities within the wedding hall.

The wedding hall is very surprisingly modern and beautiful. The shows look very enthusiastically entertaining.
I wish I could see the videos of these shows. It is very pleasing to see a wedding hall in front of Amman Kovil.
I love Valvettithurai!

It is very regrettable to note that even though Dr. Rajajendran was present at the opening ceremony he was not called to light the holy lamp.
He was the most educated and intellectual person who was present at the ceremony.
some unimportant and some irrelevant people were called to light the lamp.if this trend goes forever even the gods cannot save VVT from this Illiterate culture.
