North east Monsoon which begun couple of weeks ago, brings heavy rain to Jaffna Peninsula, including to Valvettithurai.
Rainwater is observed in many places and normalcy of life is slightly affected due to continuous raining.
Considerably rough seas and strong winds are also observed in the coastal areas in the Palk striat.
The Jaffna Peninsula is most fertile, being irrigated from numerous wells, which are being filled during North east Monsoon from late October till beginning of January.
