“Proficiency in Security training for seafarers with designated security duties” – A mandatory STCW certificate for all seafarers come into force 01st Jan 2014 onwards.
As per the Manila 2010 amendments to the STCW convention, all seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board a ship are required to complete a security training meeting the competence standards given in tables A-VI/6-1 or A-VI/6-2 of section A of STCW code.
It is learnt that CINEC Maritime Campus of Colombo is conducting the relevant course in Srilanka.
