Christmas is celebrated in Valvettithurai

Christian community, in Valvettithurai, have celebrated Christmas. Number of resident Christians had gathered at the Valvettithurai Church at about 2100 hours to offer prayers and celebrate Christmas Day on December 25. Ven Niruban Nizanath, father of the church in-charge, had conducted all proceedings in the event on the 24th from 2200 hours till midnight.

Number of people, who are Christians in Valvettiturai area, including Oranai Kudiyettaththiddam and Polikandy, are celebrating Christmas Day on December 25 today, the day celebrates Jesus Christ's birth. It is custom to the Christians community in VVT as well to erect Christmas trees, decorate their homes, visit family or friends and exchange gifts during Christmas Day.
