Chess tournament of NPC held yesterday, 3 students from Valvai AMC gets elected

Chess tournament of Northern provincial council was held yesterday at Point Pedro for the students of Point Pedro and Karavetti Zonal divisions. The tournaments were held at Hartly College and Methodist Ladies College for the schools of Point Pedro and Karavetti Zonal divisions respectively.
Considerable numbers of students had participated at the tournament, where chess referees, school principals and teachers were also present at this event.
3 students of Valvettithurai A.M.C School have got 1st and 2nd places at this tournament, thus paving way to participate at province level.
Russians are said to be the world champions in chess and India is placed second by having their chess Grandmaster and former World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand.
