President of Valvai Seafarer Welfare Association (Vaiswa) Mr.Ranjasanthas passed away yesterday morning due to heart attack at Valvettithurai. Ranjasanathas was one of the founders of Vaiswa and was elected as president when Vaiswa was formed 3 years ago. The former Marine Chief Engineer became a lecturer, when CINEC (Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College) had opened its branch in Jaffna 2 years ago.
Ranjanathas was known around the VVT for his social works not only for Marine maters but also temples and educational matters.
Ranjanathas is the brother of Capt.Mohanathas, who was the most senior Master Mariner in the modern shipping, in Valvettihurai area, died at 1985 in a cross firing at Point Pedro.
