"Blues pleasure boat" for boating launched at Valavettithurai

A locally made well designed double boat, named as "Blues Pleasure boat" meant for boating has been launched at Valvettithuai, Jaffna today, 21st February. The boat has been made "Sea Horese Marine" in Karainagar and kept in a workshop at Revady beach, VVT form where it was taken to Kothiyal beach of Valvettithurai at about 1000 hours, where traditional ceremony was held prior to its sea trail.
The boat was launched at about 1200 hours and the successful sea trail has been made of Valvettithurai seas.
We are intending to operate the boat for tourist at Valvettithurai seas within 2 to 3 nautical miles – said Mr. Thangavel, a social activist of VVT, after the successful sea trial. He added that evevthough the boat has got the capacity to travel far, we would restrict to 2 to 3 nautical miles for safety reasons.
The 14 seater boat has been fitted with 15 BHP out board engine and found to be stable in normal sea conditions due to its construction.
The boat is intended to be operated at Thondaimanaru lagoon during Thondaimanaru selva sanithi annual festival.
The boat is said to be the first of its type in Northern Srilanka and Valvettithurai initiates the boating for the first time in Jaffna peninsula.
The specifications of the boat including the owner and cost is yet to be declared.
