Valvettithurai Sri Muthumariamman temple ‘Holy bath’ festival held

Valvettithurai Sri Muththumariyamman temple holy bath (‘Theertham’ in Tamil) festival held today morning at Orani beach, Valvettithurai. The goddess had reached her destination for holy bath at about 0800 hours and holy bath continued till about 1000 hours. Followed by special Pooja at Orani, the Goddess has returned to Nediyakadu Pillaiyar temple, from where the Goddess is expected to return to the Amman temple today late night.
The festival witnessed large numbers of devotees of local and number of devotees from other parts of Srilanka and overseas as well.
Most of the KSS - Point Pedro road, from Aladi till Orani, has been decorated with Banana trees, lights, Cut-outs etc in order to celebrate the festival.
Various arrangements are underway so as to celebrate the attractive last day night festival of 'Inthiravizha' to be held today.
