The Annual Summer festival ('Valvai Kodai Vizha' in Tamil) of Valvettithurai based Srilankan Tamil in London held day before yesterday, 6th of July 2014. Valvettithurai Welfare Association (London) had organized the festival and the festival is said to be great success as expected, with participation of hundreds of people from UK and other neighbouring European countries, amid prevailed pleasant weather conditions.
The events was headed by Mr.Kumar Sathiyaseelan, the President of the "Valvettithurai Welfare Association", where Mr. Raveendran paalasinkam had participated as Chief guest.
The Venue including Stage and the Marques had been magnificently decorated and well maintained by VVT Boys from the commencement of the event till completion.
As anticipated Football had focussed the festival events, where Eelavar Football Team of France had lifted the trophy and received cash of £2000, while Noreel Football of Norway became the runners and received the Trophy and cash of £1000.
Valvai Blues Team, which represents the players from Valvettithurai origin, did not qualify to the final after being knocked out in the semi-final.
Besides football, the festival events included many the sport events, including couple of games for children.
The festival was catered by "Valvai Unavagam", where participants were served with traditional meals, such as "Kool", famous "Kottu roti", "Kozhi pukkai", "Vadai" etc.
This remarkable sports festival among Tamils in London, was organised and hosted by the "Valvettithurai Welfare Association", since 2006.
