The tropical cyclone Nilam which formed in the east of Sri Lanka has gone towards India and has passed Chennai yesterday evening and is going further northwest.The heavy rain brought by the cyclone caused damages to many parts of the country including the north and east . Any further damage is not expected as it has passed north.of Sri Lanka
Due to persistent rain and flooding thousands of people suffered in many districts of Sri Lanka. Especially the people of the coastal districts of Trincomalee ,Jaffna and Mullaitivu are known to be suffering severely.
The storm caused flooding in many places and landslides. It caused property damage and People had to be displaced from there homes.
The direct impact of the cyclone is no more. But we may still expect heavy rain and wind. The coastal areas may have winds at the speed of 60-70 KM per hour in the near future.and we can also expect that the inter monsoonal climate will continue.
