Velampirai Kannaki Amman Temple 'Kumpaavisegam' is held tomorrow

Velampirai Kannaki Amman Temple 'Kumpaavisegam' is schedule to be held tomorrow 21st June 2103.
The temple, located in 'Karaitivu-Navatkuli high way, had been destroyed completely in the past during civil war.
This famous historical Velampirai Kannaki Amman Temple, among all the Kannaki temples which is located in Velampirai of Jaffna Peninsula of Northern Sri Lanka has got archaic and continuous traditional history since long ago. It is learnt that the temple, which recalls one of the five Tamil epic called Silappathikaaram, was also popular during Nallur kingdom.
The documents of British states Velampirai Kannaki Amman Temple as a prominent temple in Northern Sri Lanka. This temple had been subjected to the highest rules of Hinduism called Aakama marapu, during Swami Aarmukanaavalar religious period and now has Sivagami amman as the main shrine at this temple. However in the minds of the people, this temple always brings the history of Tamil epic Silappathikaram, which witness the archaic traditional history.
