Chariot Festival of Valvettithurai Nediyakaadu Pillayar Temple was held yesterday

The chariot (or "Ther" in Tamil) festival of Valvettithurai Nediyakaadu Pillayar temple was held yesterday 21st of August 2013. Hundreds of devotees from Valvettithurai area and number of displaced Tamils of Western countries had participated at the event.
The chief Deity, Lord Ganapathi, along with Lord Muruga, was taken from the temple yesterday at about noon to the gaily decorated chariot.
The last day festival of Theeraththam (Holy bath) is presently taking place at Valvettithurai Orani holy beach, which too have drawn hundred of devotees at the site of Holy beach.
The annual festival of Valvettithurai Nediyakadu Pillaiyar temple had commenced on 12th of Aug 2013 with Kodiyetram.
Nediyakadu Pillaiyar Temple, which is the largest Vinayaga Temple in VVT area, is said to be one of the temple in Valvettithurai that does practice rites and observances according to Saiva agama traditions.
Nediyakadu Pillaiyar Temple is located at about 800m east of Valvettithurai junction, on the Point Pedro - KKS road.
