The 49th Anniversary and final day of the annual sports meet of ‘Valvettithurai Nethaji Sports Club' was held at Valvettithurai Kattuvalavu Nethaji beach ground here on Tuesday, 27th of Augst 2013. The event was headed by Mr. S. Sivarathnam, the president of Nethaji Sports Club.
Mr. N. Anantharaj, Chairman of Valvettithurai Urban Council had participated as the chief guest, while several other officials had participated as the special guests, including O-I-C, VVT Police station Mr. Kumarasinghe.
The final events had commenced at about 1530 hours and lasted till next day morning 0200 hours.
Sports events were organized in several categories, which were taking place on 25th and 26th morning and evening for the men as well as women for various sports events such as Races, Fancy dress, Boat race, Swimming, Cycle race, Tug of war etc.
Valvai Nethaji Sports Club, which celebrates its 49th anniversary this year, has been formed by the people residing at Kattuvazhavu and its adjacent areas of Valveetithurai, which is about 600m, east of VVT junction.
