The 71st Anniversary and final day of the annual sports meet of ‘Valvettithurai Rainbow Sports club’ was held at the Valvettithurai Rainbow sports ground here on today. The event was headed by Mr. K. Murali, the president of Valvai Rainbow Sports club.
Dr. S. Poranachandran participated as the chief guest, while Mr. V. Somasundram and Mr. P. Inthiralingam participated as special guests at the events. Mr.N.Anantharaj, Chairman of Valvettithurai Urban Council, Mr.Rathmal Rajapaksa, Official of Valvettithurai Police station, Mr.M.Thankavel, the former president of Valvai Sports club and Mr.Thevasikamani, an all time player of Valvai sports club participated as the guests.
Having made prayer in the Vevil Pillaiyar temple, the events have commenced at about 1500 hours.
The guests were invited from Valvai Vempadi junction with the band music performed by Nediyakadu Ganapathi Nurary students.
It is the first time in Valvettithurai that the names of talented persons of Valvettithurai late Mr.Kumar Ananthan (called as ‘Aalik kumaran Aananthan) and late Mr. Makorkada moorthi - have been placed in the two houses of Red and Blue.
It is not required to give an introduction to Mr. Kumar Ananthan, a multi talented Gunnis record keeper, hailed from Valvettithurai. Mr. Makorkada moorthi was known, in early 90’s, as an expert in Fireworks.
It should be noted that Mr.Kumar Ananthan and Mr. Makorkada moorthi were members of Valvettithurai Rainbow sports club.

The final day's events continued till l2300 hours.
