Valvettithurai Sivan temple holy bath (‘Theertham’ in Tamil) festival held today morning at Orani beach, Valvettithurai.
God’s idols were taken to the site of Orani beach at about 0730 in the morning and with the special Pooja, the holy bath lasted till about 0830 hours.
Valvai Sri Vaitheeswarar Temple’s annual festival is considered as one of the important Hindu event in Valvettithurai. The annual festival that had commenced on 9th of this month ends today evening after bringing down the temple's flag.
It may remembered Holy bath festival in the last annual festival had taken place at the temple premises due to the lunar eclipse fallen on the same day.
It should be noted that the temple belongs to Mr.Thiruvengadam, who is the grandfather of Mr.V.Prabaharan - found of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam.
