Valvettithurai Urban Council chairman dies of Covid 19

Valvettithurai Urban council president Mr.K.Karunantharasa (Age 76) died due to Covid-19 today morning. Mr.Karunantharasa was tested positive and admitted into Point Pedro base hospital on last Friday.
Three men succumbed to death due to Covid-19 in a span of 10 days in Valvettithurai, a tiny prominent coastal village in Jaffna Peninsula.
Mr.K.Karunantharasa contested in last local government election under Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and elected as president of Valvettithurai Urban Council on 27.03.2018.
Following the death of Mr.Thileepan, who was on fast to death in 1987 at Nallur, Jaffna, Mr.Karunanantharsa, along with one of his colleague, went on Hunger strike in late September 1987 at Valvettithurai junction, where LTTE leader Mr.Prabaharan met him in a surprise visit.
