வல்வெட்டித்துறைச் சந்தியிலிருந்து சுமார் ஒன்றரைக் கிலோமீட்டர் தூரத்திலும், வல்வெட்டித்துறையின் புதிய இராணுவ முகாமிலிருந்து வெறும் 500 மீட்டர் தொலைவிலும் உள்ளது.
இந்த அழகான நிலப் பகுதி வயல்கள், மரங்கள், பறவைகள், வயல்வெளிகள் என வியாபித்திருக்கும். இந்த அழகுப் பூமிக்கு வலுச்சேர்க்கின்றது இதன் மையத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள வைரவர் கோவில்.

கானொளியில் கானப்படுவது பசுபிக் பிரதேசத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள துறைமுகத்தை அண்டிய பகுதி ஒன்றில், நகர்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கும் ஒரு வர்த்தகக் கப்பலுக்கு அண்மையில் எதிர்த் திசையில் பயணித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் ஒரு நீர்மூழ்கிக் கப்பல்.
இலங்கையில் நீர்மூழ்கிக் கப்பல்கள் எதுவும் இதுவரை இல்லாத போதும், முல்லைத்தீவுப் பகுதியில் தமிழீழ விடுதலைப் புலிகளால் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டதாகக் கூறப்படும் நீர்மூழ்கிக் கப்பலை ஒத்த வடிவம் ஒன்று கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டு காண்பிக்கப்பட்டது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

காணொளியில் காணப்படுபவை வல்வெட்டித்துறையின் பூச்சிகுத்தான் பகுதியில் காணப்படும் மூலிகைச்செடிகள். காட்டுத்துளசி, நாயுருவி, நாயுண்ணி, எருக்கலை, உணா, குப்பைமேனி, தொட்டால் சிணுங்கி போன்ற பல்வகைப்பட்ட உலர்வலயத்தில் வளரும் இச்செடிகள் பல ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர் மூலிகை மருந்துகளுக்குப் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டவையாகும். நாயுருவியின் வேர்கள் மிக அதிகளவில் கொழும்புக்கு அனுப்பப்பட்டதாக இங்குள்ள வயோதிப விவசாயிகள் தெரிவிக்கின்றனர். மூலிகைச்செடிகளின் தேவைகள் குறைந்துவருவதாலும், தற்காலத்தில் இவைபற்றிய விழிப்புணர்வு குறைந்து வருவதாலும், மேலும் கட்டங்களின் பெருக்கத்தாலும் இவ் மூலிகைச்செடிகள் அழிந்துவருகின்றன.

The Video shows Herbal Plants seen in 'Poochikuththan' area of Valvettithurai, which grow in Tropical areas. Shown Herbal Plants such as 'Kaadduth thulasi', 'Naayuruvi', 'Naayunni', 'Erukkalai', 'Unaa', 'Kuppaimeni', 'Thoddaal sinungi' etc (all names in Tamil) had been used as Ayurvedic medicines in the past extensively.
Old time Farmers in this area say that roots of herbal plant ‘Naayuruvi’ was sent to Colombo in Tonnes several decades ago.
Herbal plants are diminishing due to maximum use of English medicines, lack of knowledge and fast growing new buildings etc.

துறைமுகத்திற்குள் நுழையும் கப்பல்களின் வழிச் செலுத்தலுக்கு உதவும் நோக்குடன், ஒவ்வொரு துறைமுகத்திலும் பைலட் எனப்படுபவர்கள் கப்பல்களுக்கு வருவது வழமை. இதை Pilot embarking எனக் கூறப்படுகின்றது. இது சில துறைமுகங்களில் மிகவும் அசாதாராண காலநிலைகளின் பொழுது மிகவும் கடினமான ஒன்றாகக்கூடவுள்ளது. உதாரணமாக தென்மேற்கு பருவக்காலநிலையின் பொழுது கொழும்புத் துறைமுகம்.

A Pilot used to embark a vessel at a “Pilot boarding ground” of the port concerned in order to assist the con of the vessel. Pilot embarking, at times, becomes a difficult operation at certain ports during rough weather. The best example is Colombo Harbour during South West monsoon.
Valveettithurai born Capt. Mohandas and Capt. Viyayakumar had worked as Pilots in KKS Harbour about 30 years ago.

இலங்கையின் புராதனமானதும், பெரியதுமான சிவன் கோவில். திரு.பிரபாகரன் அவர்களின் மூதாதையர்களுக்குச் சொந்தமானது. இக்கோவிலுக்குச் அருகருகே வல்வை ஸ்ரீ முத்துமாரியம்மன் கோவிலும், புட்டனி பிள்ளையார் கோவிலும் அமைந்திருப்பது ஒரு சிறப்பம்சமாகும். வல்வை சிவன் கோவில், வல்வெட்டித்துறைச் சந்தியிலிருந்து மேற்குத் திசையில் சுமார் 400m தொலைவில் பருத்தித்துறை காங்கேசன்துறை வீதியில் அமைந்துள்ளது.
Valvai Sivan temple is one of the oldest and largest Sivan temple in Srilanka. This famous old sivan temple is located about 500m west of Valvettithurai junction, adjacent to KKS -- Point pedro road. It should be noted that the temple belongs to Mr.Thiruvenkadam, who is the grand father of Mr.V.Pirapakaran.
