Valvettithurai Sri Muthumariamman temple chariot festival held today. The Chariots commenced to underway in the outer roads of the temples at about 0900 hours and reached their destinations at about 1230 hours, where special Pooja is taking place now.
Large numbers of devotees, including considerable number of VVTrs, living in other parts of Srilanka and overseas as well, have participated in the festival.
Valvai Sri Muthumariamman temple’s annual festival is considered as the most important event in Valvettithurai. The annual fstival that had commenced on 30th of last month, ends tomorrow, by celebrating Holy bath ('Thirtham' in Tamil) festival at Orani beach, located in Bay of Bengal, along Point Pedro – KKS Road.
