The Jaffna International Trade Fair (JITF) was held for the 5th consecutive year from last 17th to the 19th of January 2014, in the Thuraiyapa stadium, Jaffna.
The exhibition had showcased industries including, but not limited to Construction, Agriculture, Food & beverage, Packaging, Information and Communication technology, Apparel Auto mobile, Hospitality, Travel and tourism, Financial Services and Consumer goods.
The event was co-organized by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Sri Lanka (FCCISL) and in association with the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yarlpanam (CCIY) together with Official newly formed Northern Provincial Council, Indian Embassy of Jaffna and Jaffna Municipal council.
The trade fair held is said to be a success with thousands of visitors participating at the exhibition during the span of three days.
The Jaffna peninsula is considered to be amongst the most lucrative destination in the Island for business after the end of a three decade long ethnic conflict. It still seems to be a virtually virgin market with many opportunities for private commercial enterprises to make inroads into a vast potential market for investors, both in and outside the peninsula, the northernmost tip of this Island nation.
