Today hearing of Valvettithurai Theruvil Public park case, in Point Pedro Majestic Court has ended with the dismissal of the case, thus paving way for Valvettithurai Urban Council to go ahead with setting up of the new park. According to the Valvai Urban Council sources, the case was dismissed under rule 66, by the Judge Mrs.Srinithi Nanthakumar, stating that the petitioner, the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) of Srilanka Police, who filed the case against the Valvai Urban council, has failed to produce sufficient evidence.

The new Thondaimanaru bridge was ceremonially declared open today across the Thondaimanaru lagoon to public use, marking the end of a project that took over 4 years to complete. The Thondaimanaru bridge which connects Vadamaradchi and Valikaamam of Jaffna Peninsula has been totally damaged due to the ethnic conflict in the past.
